We had so much fun getting ready for and celebrating Halloween this year! Lilly is finally getting to an age that she can enjoy the holidays and kind of understand what's going on. I loved having someone to share our old traditions with and to help me discover new ones. As always, we had a lot of fun!
Lilly dressed up as a little witch and helped us carve pumpkins. She decorated her pumpkin with stickers and markers. Drew and I
And what's a holiday without the sweet treats?!
Our pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and caramel apples:
I wanted to teach Lilly how to tear and glue paper, so we made some fun Halloween art with her friends on Monday. She liked it so much, she's asked to do it every day since. We ended up with quite a collection: a pumpkin, a bat (her idea), and a sickly looking ghost (adding green to the ghost was also her idea).
Then it was finally, at last, really truly Halloween day! We started off the morning with yummy pumpkin pancakes before heading out to the Fall Fun Fest. I made an extra special jack-o-lantern one for Lilly since she LOVES chocolate chips. She was a big fan.
For dinner, I decided to forego the "dinner in a pumpkin" this year and make a simple beef stew and orange-colored crusty bread.
Then we all went out Trick-or-Treating for the first time! We just went to a few houses, but Lilly thought it was a great game. She got right to work sorting through her candy when she got home. I let her eat WAY more candy than usual, so I'm pretty sure Halloween is now her favorite holiday ever. In fact, she's been loading up on sugar for the last few days. She goes to the closet where I hid her trunk-or-treat candy and says, "I want trick-or-treat! Please trick-or treat?"
She's pretty hard to resist.

Looks like the perfect Halloween! I really love cute Lilly's costume. You're such a fun mom! I can't wait to hear about her birthday...
ReplyDeleteSo cool that it is warm enough for Lilly to be barefoot on the porch! Good idea to do stickers and markers on the pumpkin, Archie helped me carve his pumpkin so it rotted really fast with all the knife jabs he gave it. What a cute little crafter Lilly is becoming!
