September brings the end of summer and the start of school. It's equal parts exciting and bittersweet.
We also discovered that September is Paw paw time. I had never heard of this fruit, but as soon as I did, I knew we had to check it out. The kids and I went to a nearby Pawpaw festival to get some of this difficult to find fruit during it's very short harvest season.
We brought home a few varieties to try, and as promised they had a custard-like texture and a tropical flavor- unlike anything else I've eaten.
We also had a visit from Drew's grad school friend Joe, and we braved a torrential downpour to take him to Great Falls. It was very wet and very fun.
For some reason we had the place to ourselves.
Henry loves card games- and we love playing with him. Uno, Spot it, and Monopoly Deal are his favorites.
Baseball season officially started, and these kids were ready for it.
We were less prepared for our first experience with lice. It's a couple weeks that I would prefer to forget, and will hopefully never have to revisit, but that we survived without too much pain. Just a lot of shampooing, lice combing and laundry.
And we finished out the month with Henry's birthday! He turned 5! He insisted on a birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese, although he hadn't been there in his recent memory (pretty sure sister planted this idea). He also wanted a pinata and ice-cream cake, so of course we obliged.
