RoRo

Lilly has a friend. Her name is Rowyn, and she lives just around the corner. Lilly is OBSESSED with Rowyn. Lilly cannot say her own name, but she can ask for Rowyn. Everyday, multiple times a day, she looks at me with plaintive eyes and asks, "Rowro? Rowro?" Sometimes she'll beg to go outside just to see if RoRo has magically appeared on our porch.

Yesterday Rowyn and her mom came over to test out our little swimming pool, and the girls loved it! It was a wonderful afternoon, perfectly warm in the shade of our tree and made complete with some homemade apple pie and vanilla bean ice cream, courtesy of the amazing, Mary Ann, otherwise known as RoRo's mom.

The girls were so adorable, I couldn't stop snapping pictures:

Rowyn jumped right in, but Lilly preferred to play outside the pool for awhile.

She especially enjoyed trying to taste the water.

Eventually she got in, and they blew some bubbles.

And played with balls and toys stolen from the sandbox.

Can you tell she's loving it?

Then she started splashing, and things got a little crazy.

Lilly pushed Rowyn (a bad habit she developed this past week), so I made the suggestion to hug instead. And hug she did.

The hugging continued for awhile, until they both toppled over and shed a few (fake) tears together.

To dry off, they took turns swinging. It must be good to be 1.

And it's good to be the mother of one.
I'm looking forward to lots of pool days this summer! And I'm grateful for all of Lilly's little friends who make her so happy, and their mothers who make me so happy, too!
