Today Lilly is officially 18 months old! And we love her more than ever. She laughs all the time, and makes us laugh, too. She especially loves to tickle us. Drew taught her that eyebrows are ticklish, and I promptly corrected her. So now she just tickles Drew's eyebrows,
and goes straight for my neck.
Lilly LOVES. . .
- Giving Hugs and Kisses. These must always come in pairs.
- Ponytails, followed closely by pulling out ponytails
- Pushing swings
- Climbing up slides
- Popsicles and juice
- Chasing and being chased
- "Counting"- She points at each object one by one and I count them. Or she just says "two."
- Calling everything "blue" if you ask her the color
- Singing songs, especially "Old McDonald had a Farm," she does all the animal noises and says "yi yi yi o." Also, "Wheels on the Bus," she says "wound and wound" and "swish swish swish."
- Dancing (spinning, swaying and running in place)
- Clicking her tongue
- Jumping on the bed
- Doodling, she prefers ballpoint pens to crayons
- Dora the Explorer and Super Why (We try to limit this to when I'm preparing lunch or dinner, but it is a lifesaver during those times!)
- Having all 4 canines finally break through her gums. We had some rough nights. 16 baby teeth down, only 4 to go!
- Dr. Suess books! Especially making all the sounds in Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? Reading that book is the only thing she prefers to do with Drew instead of me.
- Finding new books at the library. Her favorite of late is, "Piggy Pie Po" by Don and Audrey Wood.
- "Bugs!" If she even sees a speck that looks like a bug she gets excited.
- Butterflies! Which she simply calls "fly," along with actual flies, so I have to follow her pointing to know if I should be in awe or just annoyed.
- "Buns and Buts"- These are her words for her beloved bunny and binky. So funny story, we've been wondering why she calls her binky "buts" for a few weeks, and I finally figured it out today! She was pointing at button magnets on the fridge and calling them "buts" . . . Buttons! So at nap time I asked her if her binky was a button and she nodded. Then I asked why it looked like a button, and she held it out to me and pointed at the holes in the plastic. Like, duh mom. Mystery solved.
Waiting (not so) patiently at the door before walking group/playing at the park this morning:
And after surviving the heat:

I love the button pacy, and that she can count "two", how lady like she is eating that popsicle, that cute little bead of sweat on her forehead, and I am dying to see a video of her singing all those songs and ticking Drew's eyebrows!
ReplyDeleteLilly is so beautiful! I can't believe she is so old and can do so many wonderful and smart things! Yay Lilly!
