Squirrels

I'm freaking out. Or at least I have been--every time I hear the scamper of little feet in the attic. It makes me shiver and cringe (shringe? criver?) just thinking about it. For awhile now we could hear the pitter-patter of racing squirrels across our roof, especially in the morning when Lilly and I were waking up. I actually watched from the window once while two of these "cute" little guys jumped from our tree to the roof in some exciting game of tag (or perhaps something more violent). When we moved here I was really excited about our big shade tree and the fun "pets" it housed, but let's just say I'm over it.

Someone was kind enough to compare squirrels to rats a couple weeks ago, and I've been slowly unraveling ever since. I CANNOT STAND RODENTS. The thought of them makes me want to curl up in fetal position. A couple days ago I sat in this very spot and heard the demons running above me, and in a very scientific experiment I went outside to see if they were on the roof. They were not. So now I'm pretty certain there are squirrels in our attic. And not just the two I've seen. Probably dozens, maybe even hundreds. And it doesn't matter that Drew can't find their entrance point. And it doesn't matter that I haven't heard them for a couple days. And it doesn't matter that the traps are still empty. I'm sure they're just hiding out and tip-toeing around up there. And I'm pretty sure they are doing something like this right now. . .

But it's definitely not as cute.

  1. Lilly is soo way cuter than a squirrel! We heard some scratching in our wall the other night... I think we have a mouse! This sort of thing totally used to not bother me- but now, it's just so gross! I hate the thought of some diseased animal being in the house- even if not out in the actual living areas. Hopefully your squirrels will relocate!
Lilly is really cute dancing -we should have some dance parties in Michigan!
