THIRTEEN MONTHS! Now that we've passed the year mark, months don't hold as much weight. So I of course neglected the date completely and took no pictures. But I couldn't let a month go by with at least some sort of update on Lilly's new habits and accomplishments. The last couple weeks have been quite unexpected, and in keeping with superstition, slightly unlucky. Unlucky because Lilly has had a cold for the last week, and her 8th tooth broke through yesterday. Unexpected because Lilly is completely weaned (I think) and I read Twilight (and New Moon) despite my unspoken vow never to do so. Life is full of surprises, right? Also, I have to apologize to Kristen Stewart, her annoying acting in the aforementioned series might actually be an improvement on the even more annoying and whiny character of aforementioned book.

Anyway, back to the Lilly update:
  • Eats mostly what we eat and likes to feed herself. Loves french toast. Also recently discovered peanut butter and LOVES it. Starting to drink more whole milk.
  • Has 8 teeth!
  • Stopped breastfeeding! I was not expecting this so soon, but I had to be out a couple nights in a row. I nursed her before I left both times and she went down so easily with Drew that we decided to try the next night without nursing. That was last weekend, and we lasted 2.5 days without any nursing. Monday she was sick, and she started asking to nurse so I nursed her once in the evening, and I continued to nurse just in the morning for a couple days. This weekend we have not nursed at all again--it's easier when Drew is around. I think we are officially done. She asks sometimes, but doesn't cry if I just give her a sippy cup or snack instead. I was really sad last weekend, but this week I feel ready to let go of that part of our relationship. We just cuddle and read a lot instead.
  • Sleeps through the night! This started the week before we weaned her. She would wake up and cry a little at her usual time, but would fall back to sleep on her own pretty quickly, so we just let her be. Hurray!
  • Naps once around 1 p.m. for 2+ hours
  • Tries to put her socks on her feet and her shirts over her head.
  • Loves her bunny more than anything. She always goes to sleep with it wrapped in her arms.
  • Likes to find her belly button, play peek-a-boo, and put things in containers. Also likes to mimic me by using a dish rag/paper towel to wipe the nearest surface. It's actually kind of heartbreaking to see a baby cleaning like a focused little Cinderella, even though it's just pretend.
  • Says what sounds like "hi" when she waves, "all done" and "down" when she's done eating, "tchee" for tree, "dee" for dog, "mom" when she wants me to pick her up and "dada" whenever she sees him. Also points and says "dat" for everything else.
  • Loves listening to songs on her keyboard and playing with her toy kitchen. Now when things go missing they are usually in her oven.
  • Gives her doll BIG hugs.
  • Folds her arms before meals to remind us to pray, but then refuses to keep them folded during the prayer.
  • Loves reading books with us. She's really good at squirming her little bum onto your lap. Some current favorites are Mommy's Best Kisses, Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see?, Dr. Seuss's The Foot Book (I don't really understand why), Aloha is. . . (This one I understand because she likes to find the animals that are on every page), and her Colors flap book.
  • Also loves the computer. Looking at her baby pictures on the computer. And photo albums.
  • Starting to show glimpses of what a tantrum might look like, but usually recovers quickly. Generally she's very happy, friendly and fun to be around!
Here's Lilly discovering the joy of peanut butter while I was making peanut butter fudge on Friday!

  1. Just so you know - everybody hated New Moon. Read on to the third book, it's far better. And then the fourth (Breaking Dawn) is REALLY good. I was FORCED to read the series by my good friend, literally she bought and mailed me Twilight because I refused to read it. But I was really glad I kept with it because of the fourth book.
