This week we got to witness a very special event. . . my grandmother's wedding! Well, kind of.
A little over three years ago my grandpa passed away while doing what he loved best--teaching a young boy how to surf. He was never baptized while alive, but we believe that he has now had the opportunity to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ and to choose to accept it after death. Accordingly, we have been doing his temple work (baptism, confirmation, endowment) in Salt Lake, and waiting for the Hawaii temple renovation to be complete so that my grandma could be sealed to him and extend their marriage beyond "death do us part."
On Wednesday, July 20th, my grandmother was sealed to my grandfather in the Hawaii temple for time and all eternity, following which, my mom was sealed to them. It was a wonderful moment, and we were glad we could be a part of it. Uncle Marc was kind enough to babysit Lilly at the Visitor's Center. (He also got to talk about the weather with Utah meteorologist, Mark Eubanks, who is now retired and serving a mission.)
We are so happy to know that our family will be with us beyond this short life. It was also neat to see inside the temple where my parents were sealed. This was definitely the best part of our trip to Hawaii!
