Copy Clap

Lilly's favorite trick this week is clapping her hands. AND what's even cooler is that she has started doing it on demand. It's so exciting to see her copy our actions! It's also a little scary.

Being a nurse I'm used to taking care of people's physical needs, and up to this point that's a lot of what I've had to do with Lilly. She's been learning how to eat and move and sleep. We've kept her clean and met her emotional needs with attention and love. But I know the tough stuff is coming. There is a reason I didn't go into teaching! I find it very intimidating to be responsible for the intellectual development of a person. Let me be more specific, because I love to read to Lilly and I am excited to teach her to read and write and all those other school-related skills. It's more than that. I hope I can help her become a good person. One with kindness and wisdom and strength. I hope I'm a good enough mother. But I guess that's what real parenting is about.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Time to watch Lilly clap clap away. . .
