This past weekend I was supposed to work my last two orientation shifts (7a-7p Saturday and Sunday). Let's just say I wasn't really looking forward to it. Friday night I got a call from my old college roommate, Courtney, who just moved back to Fort Worth, and I told her that I probably wouldn't be able to visit until after New Year's due to work, travel, etc. This was sad because we live 3 hours apart now, and I hadn't seen her for awhile. Plus I was looking forward to visiting the Forth Worth Zoo with our other roomate, Aleni, and as it turned out, they were getting together to go to the zoo the next day! I got off the phone to feed Lilly dinner and . . . I had a message from work telling me that they needed to cut my orientation shifts on Saturday and Sunday! NO WORK! I was sooooo excited. I called her back and I made the most impulsive decision of my life (I'm not an impulsive person) to head to Fort Worth, and it was the best decision ever. We got Lilly ready for bed and hit the road an hour later. We planned to return Saturday night, but we were having so much fun we extended our stay until Sunday. I'm so glad that we did. I was supposed to work all weekend; instead I got to visit old friends, play with their babies, spend time with my own baby, and go to an awesome zoo. Isn't it great when things work out like that?
We stayed with Courtney at her parent's house out in the country. Lilly liked their donkey and mini goats.

Asa and Lilly meeting for the first time!
By Sunday afternoon they were hugging each other without any prompting!
Lilly got in a short morning nap on the way to the zoo.
We had a picnic lunch outside and then headed in to see the animals.
Candid shot:
The Fort Worth Zoo is one of the country's top 5 zoos, and it was really awesome. I haven't been to the zoo for a long time, and I loved seeing all the animals. Lilly loved it, too!
Lilly, Hugo and Asa riding a Komodo Dragon!
Drew had to study, so Courtney's little sister came along as my "husband."
After the zoo we stopped by Aleni and Taylor's apartment, and then headed out to dinner and ice cream.
All the babies and Nate. Lilly's looking a little worried.
Ice cream at Braum's
Lilly couldn't get enough of this banana split. She had a spoon in both hands!
Saturday went by too quickly, so we decided to sleep over and play for one more day.
Drew and Lilly checking out the Sunday paper before church . . .
Taylor and Drew playing frisbee in the backyard.
Lilly is still afraid of dogs, but she seemed to make a lot of progress during the trip.
The other babies were really good at dancing. I guess I better start teaching Lilly some moves.
Looks like she's just busy keeping an eye on the dogs.
Sunday night we had dinner and played games; then it was time to go back to real life.
We were sad to leave, but happy to get home.
Can't wait for our next get together!
Fun! And way to be impulsive!
