Napping, etc.

I love how Lilly is so good at napping. We will be playing and then all of a sudden she'll cry out and start looking for something to suck on. I'll give her a pacifier, hold her for a minute, and then put her in her crib. Then she sleeps, sort of. The video shows her falling asleep, her eyes are closed but she's still moving all around. She does fall asleep eventually and stop moving. Lately, though, I don't know when she wakes up. At some point when I check on her, I find her just looking around and talking quietly to herself. I'm beginning to wonder if she's just tricking me into thinking that she's napping. :)

Along with the rest of the country, we have had some chilly weather. Here's Lilly getting bundled up.

We also just celebrated my 25th birthday and Drew's 24th birthday. Every year for Drew's birthday (ok, so this is just the 3rd year), I make a pineapple upside-down cake. For the 2nd year in a row we put candles in the cake, and because the cake is served warm. . . they melted. I think next year we'll remember and not have to eat wax again.

Lilly is just getting cuter and cuter. And she's super aware of her surroundings. She will turn her head all around to look at things and follow me everywhere with her eyes. Along with that awareness came a new found sense of choice. Lilly discovered that she could choose not to eat from a bottle anymore, and she has adamantly stuck by that choice. While I'm flattered that she loves me so much and proud of her breastfeeding skills, I'm also stressed out because I have to go back to work next week. We have tried everything to get her to take the bottle again (she used to take it like a pro), but she is stubborn. She's even fine with sucking on the bottle nipple if it's empty. But as soon as any milk, formula, whatever hits her mouth, the gigs up and she's screaming for mommy. Looks like my mom and Lilly are in for a long 12 hours next Saturday. The standoff is the only strategy that remains.

One last thing. Why do babies all of a sudden get so droolie at this age? I swear she's hiding a saliva faucet in there. . .
