April: Spring Break with the Grandparents and a trip back to Camas

In April, the kids got a one week break from school, and we squeezed in two different grandparent visits!

Drew's mom arrived a few days before the break began, so she got to do some exploring with Drew and me while the kids were still in school.

On one of those days, Henry's class had a general surgeon come in to teach them all about the world of surgery, so he came home with a whole kit of supplies that he was very excited to share with us all, including child-safe suture supplies, gloves, a gown and a surgical cap.

We had fun showing her around our neighborhood, as well as some of the more famous Seattle sites. She and Drew walked all over Belltown and Pike Place while I was working on Thursday, and then we spent the next day exploring Gas Works Park, visiting the Fremont troll and picking up yummy treats at Theo chocolates. We also spent a fun day at Seattle Center visiting the Space Needle and Museum of Pop Culture.

Next up, my parents came to visit! We took them to University Village mall, walked around Green Lake, biked all around NE Seattle on our electric bikes, and visited the "Harry Potter" library at UW.

The last weekend in April we drove back down to Camas for a night, so that Lily could watch the middle school musical at her old school and visit her friends. After we got into town, we dropped both kids off to hang out with friends for a couple hours, and Drew and I walked around downtown Camas and Round Lake. Then we picked up the kids and their friends and brought them all over to our hotel to swim, followed by a pizza party. It was so much fun!

Henry had a sleepover at a friend's house that night. Drew and I joined Lily and another friend at the musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It was a really fun show, after which Lily joined her friends for a late night hangout until around 1 AM. Drew took one for the team and set an alarm to wake up and pick her up in the middle of the night. :)

This is the first time we've moved within the same state, and it's definitely nice to be able to stay in touch and come back to visit more easily. We're already planning another trip down this summer to see some more friends we missed this time around!
