Fall 2020 continued to feature a lot of staying home together, as we soaked in of the last warm days of the year. It also included some calculated risks in order to spend time with family, and we enjoyed a slight reprieve from the isolation of Covid with a couple visits from grandparents.
As always, the Fall months were a busy and exciting time, with both kids celebrating birthdays, and the additional sweetness of Halloween festivities. We skipped out on acquiring new costumes this year, since we knew the traditional trick-or-treating and school celebrations wouldn't be happening, but the kids still decided to dress up in their favorite former costumes to participate in some door to door candy gathering, albeit inside our house.
And we doubled down on the cozy, moody, sunset-beauty of Fall: enjoying the dark and stormy days, admiring the changing leaves, and participating in the requisite lighting of candles as the days became shorter, approaching the winter solstice. The garden continued to give life, with fall perennials coming into bloom, and visiting deer and fox making daily appearances.
