Fall just flew by this year, and we didn't make it to any corn mazes or pumpkin festivals, but we did have at least a couple glorious weeks where the trees looked like this:
And we began to prepare for winter with sweaters and blankets and indoor games.
Lilly turned 9! Which doesn't seem possible, since I'm pretty sure she was just born last year, but we celebrated nonetheless. She had a couple friends over for a sleepover, and I took them out to eat dinner at CPK, picked up candy from It's Sugar, and then finished the night watching Disney's Descendants. The girls had so much fun, and felt very grown-up.
Lilly made her own birthday cake this year. :)
We decided to spend Thanksgiving in Michigan this year, and have Christmas at home. Since we had to hit the road after work, we split the drive in two for the first time, and slept in a hotel in Ohio. The kids are always excited to stay in a hotel room. :)
Sunset and Sunrise on the road.
We took advantage of the not-so-wintery Michigan weather, to take some long country walks.
The kids had a ton of fun playing with cousins and grandparents.
Lily and Grammy and I had a girls day out for mani/pedis, which was a fun treat. We felt very pampered, and it was an exciting first for Lily.
These two little rascals had the best time playing together.
Usually we visit Michigan when it's snowy and cold, so this trip it was nice to get to explore and enjoy more time outdoors.
While the adults prepared the Thanksgiving meal, the kids kept busy playing games, watching movies and doing some holiday painting. Lily was a great help taking care of the little cousins.
After Thanksgiving dinner at the Wilson's, we headed to Oma and Opa's house for more family fun, and an early Christmas celebration.
We had a great time, and it was really hard for all of us to say goodbye and head home.
Looking forward to next time . . .
