May was another fun and busy month. We started it off with a visit from Terry and Grammie, and also went on a family weekend adventure to Ocean City and Assateague Island.
Terry had never visited D.C. before, so Drew took him to see all the monuments Saturday morning, and the kids and I joined them later for the museums.
Back at home we had fun hanging out, and of course getting our hair styled by Lilly.
Went to Muffins with Moms at Henry's school. :)
We started off our Ocean City trip with a visit to Assateague to see the wild horses.
The visitors center was neat, and the island itself was stunning.
We explored some different regions, from the beach to the marshes to the sand dunes.
We had almost given up on seeing the horses when we spotted a beautiful group, including a new baby horse, right next to the road along our drive back to the park entrance.
It was the cherry on top of an already amazing visit to this ruggedly beautiful little island.
Then we headed to the Ocean City boardwalk, and had a really healthy lunch consisting of Thrasher's fries and lemonade. :)
The kids have been begging to ride go karts, and the tracks in Ocean City did not disappoint. We rode with the kids on one of the big tracks, and they got to drive their own little go karts on the kiddie track.
To finish off our Saturday, we played in the waves in front of our hotel, and then had dinner right on the pier at Fish Tales. After a full day of walking and being out in the sun, we were all a little sunburned and sore, but the kids were amazing and never complained.
It was one of those truly perfect days.
The next day had rain and storms in the forecast, so we had a delicious pancake breakfast at Happy Jack Pancake House, and then hit the road. As soon as we got home the kids were excited to share their mother's day cards with me. And Henry wanted to make a treat, so we made a heart out of strawberry rice krispie treats. :)
We finished out May with a lot of gorgeous spring days.
Just cool enough for a nice walk, but warm enough for a swim.
Bring on Summer!!!
