Lilly has been loving doing fun little science experiments lately. Much of the time they are very simple, mundane things, but I try to talk about the principles behind them to the best of my knowledge (sometimes we have to consult the interwebs or wait until Drew gets home). We started with talking about states of matter a couple months ago and doing kitchen chemistry, such as growing rock candy, making ice cream, blowing up marshmallows in the microwave, playing with oobleck, using tumeric as a pH indicator, and dissolving eggshells. Right now we have a book from the library about physics, so we've been dropping things, blowing up balloons, playing with magnets, etc. She probably doesn't really remember much of the science, but hopefully she will remember that science is FUN. And that being curious and asking questions is a very good thing.
I'm usually too involved in the activity to get a picture, but she spent so long playing "Will it Float" the other day that I got to snap a few. . .
In case you can't tell, she was super excited about this.
Meanwhile . . .
How fun! I have big summer plans to do fun things like this and now I'm inspired even more. :) Also... that picture of Henry is darling!
