Art

Alas, "it" has happened, and I am "that" mother, again. I had heard about things like this happening, but never really thought it would happen to me. My daughter is not destructive or impulsive like those "other kids." (sigh.)

But the crayons were left out, and while my back was turned, my baby discovered her inner artist! Paper was not grand or enduring enough, so she took to the walls (and floors, and chairs). And I guess she felt that any color less than black would not make a strong enough statement.

Which is why. . . today I am grateful for washable crayons, magic erasers and a camera (to capture this little masterpiece before I had to destroy it). Lilly seemed very proud of her work, but insisted on helping to clean it up.

P.S. This was right after breakfast; I didn't just leave her in pajamas all day. I'm saving that sort of neglect for my 2nd child. :)

  1. I see some real talent. Those are some bold strokes, yet still sincere. We'll call this her black phase.

  3. What a creative niece I have! Yep- I bet when you have a boy you are going to have a lot more wall art! (Not that I've had any yet- but Archie is the type -as soon as he learns to use pens and not just suck on them!)
