In May we got some beautiful sunny days, just in time for the Camas lilies to reach peak bloom. We took a walk through the lily fields, and headed down to the lake to do some fishing. Turns out the fish in this lake are either well fed or just too smart, because we got zero bites, but the kids had fun practicing their casting.
A few days later, I joined Henry's class on their walk to the see the Camas lilies. They all painted rocks to leave somewhere along the trail, and it was so fun to watch Henry interact with all of his classmates and friends. His teacher said that she loves how he gets along with absolutely everyone in the class, and it's so true!
Henry had been spending a lot of time playing with the boys that live next door and jumping on their trampoline, and he really wanted to get his own trampoline so he could jump anytime he wanted. Lily also wanted to have a trampoline again to practice flips on, so we decided to go for it. Drew put it together all by himself one evening. (This is our third trampoline, so he's basically a pro now.) And we have no regrets! It has been getting nearly daily use by both kids, and it is a great way to easily get them outside and off screens without any complaints. That's what I call a win-win situation.

On May 7th, we celebrated our lucky 13th anniversary! Drew and I got reservations at a cute little place by Lacamas lake called Acorn & the Oak, which is a flower shop/supper club, and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing, we had a nice view of the lake, and the whole place smelled like fresh flowers!
For Mother's Day, the kids surprised me with sweet cards and donuts and a giant pixie stick that Henry seemed to think I would like because it was as tall as me. :)
All of these things were nice, but I love being their mom more than anything.
I finally got a haircut, so had to take a picture to document this rare event.
Henry brought home some self-portraits from school, and they are awesome.
I made more pottery, of course.
And you can't really tell from pictures, but the two matching bowls below are the lightest bowls I have managed to make, and they feel so good to hold!
We decided we needed a little family getaway, so we planned a spur of the moment staycation in Portland. We spent the night at a hotel, and enjoyed exploring Powell's, visiting the Saturday Market, and going to a Comedy Sportz show. The kids also spent a lot of time swimming in the hotel pool, and Henry and I got some delicious shave ice bowls at Wailua Shave Ice (Lily and Drew opted to get ice cream). Before heading home, we made a final stop at the Rose Garden playground.

Henry made another cake!
And the next weekend, the kids had a fun school carnival, that again somehow managed to be on a sunny, rain-free day. (I promise we still had a bunch of rainy days this month!)
And to finish out the month, here's some pancake art, and a trip to the Washougal waterfront park to visit Sasquatch!
