October: Grammy comes to town + Lily gets braces + Lots of Fall Fun!

Aren't Octobers wonderful! It was a beautiful month, filled with lots of foggy, rainy mornings and beautiful Autumn leaves.

We kicked off the month with a fun visit from Drew's mom. The kids loved having Grammy here, and Drew and I had fun exploring the Arboretum and Rose Garden with her. She got to come to one of Henry's soccer games, and we all went to Round One arcade to celebrate Henry's birthday.

As the weather cooled, we enjoyed staying home baking and playing games, and also ventured out to play at the park and at Drew's work. And of course there was more pottery made and soccer games played.

Haircuts for all, except Lily :)

We found a local pumpkin patch to visit, and had a fantastic time finding our way through the corn maze, petting animals, and picking pumpkins. We went early on a Sunday morning and managed to avoid the crowds. After having to forgo a lot of traditions last year during the pandemic, it felt great to be returning to a sense of normalcy.

Lily has a crossbite that needs correcting, so we are embarking on a braces journey for the next year or so. She did a fabulous job getting her braces put on, and only complained about them feeling "weird" for the first few days. She chose light purple bands on top and dark purple on the bottom, and I think she looks fantastic in her braces.

Henry loves watching baking shows and making things that involve a lot of decorating. He randomly requested marzipan from the store one day, but we had all the ingredients on hand, so we made a batch and then had fun shaping little pumpkins and carrots.

More leaves! I can't help myself, I'm in love.

And more clay babies. Also in love, can't help it. Sorry, not sorry. :)

I took the kids to Boo Bash in our beautiful little downtown main street, and we had a great time trick or treating at all the local businesses.

We carved and painted our pumpkins the day before Halloween. Everyone did their own design, even Henry did most of his carving by himself. I can hardly believe how grown up they are getting, but it's so fun having older kids!

On Halloween we went trick or treating with one of Henry's friends. Lily did some trick or treating, too, and also helped pass out candy at our house for awhile.

Now on to November, once we wake up from the sugar crash!
