January: The one where we went to Disney World

In January we spent a fun-filled week in Florida with some of Drew's family, and we had an amazing time hanging out together and visiting some of the Disney World Parks. It felt like such a treat to escape the rainy PNW for a bit and bask in the Florida sun.

We arrived in Orlando Saturday evening, and spent Sunday relaxing, hanging out with family and celebrating Drew's Dad's birthday.

On Monday we visited Hollywood Studios and enjoyed all the Star Wars rides. We had a fun lunch at the 50's Prime Time Café, and finished out the day riding the slinky dog roller coaster. Both kids were nervous beforehand, but ended up loving it!

On Tuesday we visited Magic Kingdom, and loved riding all the classic Disney rides. Space mountain was my favorite roller coaster of the trip, and it was magical to finish out the day watching the fireworks going off above the castle.

On Wednesday we took a little break from the parks, and the kids had a blast playing at the house and swimming in the pool all day.

Thursday we headed to Animal Kingdom with the whole family, and started out the day with a Safari ride. Henry braved the big Expedition Everest roller coaster with us, and loved it! And Lily's favorite ride of the trip was the Avatar Flight of Passage ride in Pandora. The day was extra special, because it involved a mid-day marriage proposal!!! :)

On Friday the kids spent the morning back in the pool and we headed to a nearby park for family pictures in the afternoon. The brothers had one last day to battle it out on the arcade basketball game, with Drew ultimately setting an unbeatable high score. On Saturday we sadly said our goodbyes, headed to the airport, and flew back home to PDX and real life.

Also in January, I turned 37!
It felt kind of weird, because 37 sounds so much older than I feel. But I guess I'm just going to have to accept and embrace it. To celebrate, I got a deep tissue massage, went out for my favorite Mexican food for dinner, and on Saturday we went to Pip's Doughnuts and Chai in Portland.

As part of my new habits for the year, I started going for daily walks in order to reach a goal of  10,000 steps per day. Usually I head to the wooded trails near our house, and it's been so good for my body and mind.
Thanks to all the rain, everything is always covered in green, even in the winter months.
The pictures never quite do it justice.
