April: The one without the kids

For Spring Break this year, we sent our kids to Michigan! It was the first time they were away from both Drew and I for more than a night. We were nervous, but they did great, in fact, they had so much fun playing with their grandparents I don't think they missed us at all.

We definitely missed them, but I'll admit it was also really nice to have a kid-free week. Drew and I stayed busy at work, and we filled the weekend and evenings with all our saved-up date ideas. We went on a historic underground railroad hike, visited the National Arboretum, enjoyed local restaurants, went to a stand up show, etc.

On Friday afternoon we ditched work early, and hit the road to retrieve our children. The drive flew by with good music and podcasts to pass the time. (And no kids to entertain or feed!) We stopped only once on the 10 hour drive to grab dinner at a service plaza somewhere along the Ohio Turnpike.

We got to spend a fun-filled day at the lake before heading back home on Easter Sunday. We rode the paddle boat and 4 wheeler, fished, found a turtle, and of course there was some Euchre playing after the kids went to bed. About 30 minutes into our drive home, we hit a nail and got a flat. Luckily there was a Walmart open nearby, and they patched the tire and got us back on the road.
