2 1/2

Our lovely Lilly is officially 2.5 years old today!
She loves going for walks, giving amazing hugs, painting, picking flowers, tormenting roly poly bugs, playing board games, practicing letter sounds, and singing lots and lots of songs.

I'm pretty sure she's growing up too fast because she started saying "oh man!" and "dang it!" and yesterday when Drew sat down to dinner she calmly asked, "sooo . . . how was your day?" Not to mention, she started locking us out of her room, her beloved binky "button" got tossed in the trash, and she has mostly given up baths in favor of showering herself.
She's a big girl now for sure, but still not too big to want her mommy or to fall asleep like a baby in daddy's arms.
Thank goodness for that.

I took Lilly to Target to spend her Easter money, and this is what she picked:
She loves brushing her doll's hair (and mine) while singing the magic song from Tangled.
Playtime with friends:

A very proud moment. . . throwing away her binkie!

(Full story: We weren't planning on taking it away, but we couldn't find either of her two binkies one day, and she was sad but didn't cry. She stayed in her room but didn't nap, so by bedtime she was very tired and fell asleep easily. We decided to go with it, but the next morning she found one of them in her bathroom. Doh. I told her she had done a great job sleeping without it and maybe it was time to throw it away.
To my great surprise, she agreed! She was very excited to put it in the garbage! She's had some regrets since then, and has told me a few times that she wants it, but there were no tears and she understands that it's gone. It has been a week now, and naptimes have been a little sketchy since she's having to re-learn how to fall asleep sans paci. We're (I'm) transitioning to her just having "quiet time" in her room some of the time, but still trying to get in naps most days. It has been a very smooth and unexpected transition, and we're so glad to get it out of the way with a few more months to spare before the baby comes!)

A little backyard swimming:
(She insisted on wearing her headband.)
